Retro, vintage or antique?

Retro, vintage and antique - those words are everywhere; in ads, shops, all over the internet, ... But what is the difference between these three words?

VINTAGE

Vintage is very often used, especially because people have started buying more vintage clothes recently. But what is behind this word? What does vintage mean?

Vintage means the item, whether it's clothes, furniture, jewelry or anything, it's "old enough to be considered as used". When we transfer it to years, it's 20+ years old.

RETRO / REPRO

What does "retro" or "repro" mean, then? This word is usually used for things that are no longer all the rage (clothes, jewelry, furniture,...). But, when something is "retro", or "repro", it's inspired by something from the past but produced in the present century.

There are several repro / retro shops, for example Dotty & Dolly, Retro Stage or Collectif, and many more. Those brands sell dress inspired by 40s & 50s fashion mostly, but it's produced now.

ANTIQUE

And last, but not least, the word antique. You perhaps know the meaning of this word but I thought I should include it anyway.

When something is antique, it is more than 100 years old.
